Welcome to First Church!
We know visiting a church for the first time can be very stressful so we want to make it as easy as possible. Here is some information that should help you. More than anything, don't be afraid to ask someone you see. Our people are very friendly!
Downtown Parking can be difficult. We have a few spaces on Second Street designated for Guests and Senior Citizens. Due to construction, there really aren't many available. Our primary parking is the lot at the corner of Exchange and Second St. (See photo below). If you happen to miss it on the first pass, take a left on Poplar Ave., another left on B.B. King Blvd, then a left on Exchange Ave. While this lot is paid parking throughout the week, it is Free for our use on Sunday mornings or for any other First Church events.
If you park in the parking lot at the corner of Exchange and Second, you should get on the sidewalk on Second street and walk towards Poplar. While we will soon be able to worship in the new sanctuary on the corner, until it is complete we worship in the fellowship hall on the second floor. You may get there either by walking up the front steps (Be careful they are steep), or through the next entrance where you will normally be greeted by our friendly security guard and hopefully many others. The fellowship hall is on the second floor on the east-side of the building. Follow the signs to get there. People tend to congregate in the cafe area on the second floor before worship begins. Feel free to get some coffee and meet some people or head on into the fellowship hall and find a comfortable place to sit.
We provide a great nursery every Sunday morning for pre-kindergarten children during Sunday School and Worship. Our nursery staff is hired by the church and has been through proper screening for the safety of the children. The nursery is located on the first floor (which is one below the floor you are on when you enter the first floor).
Come however you are comfortable. You will find people wearing anything from a business suit to everyday casual attire. Everyone seems to fit in perfectly.
Most importantly! Don't let the uncertainty and anxiety that often come with being a guest at a new church keep you from coming. I promise you will be greeted warmly and enjoy your time with us!
Grace and Peace,
Andy Rambo, Senior Pastor
